returning home!

After over six weeks away I am currently headed back home to NC!

Right now I'm in the car making the eight hour drive back. We originally planned to stay until the end of August but plans have changed! I can't say why yet, but keep your fingers crossed for me!

I still have a ton of writing to catch up on, including my posts about my trip up north. Hope to get to these soon!

New York, Connecticut, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Virginia, Maryland, and North Carolina all within the last few weeks. Phew! That's a lot of traveling! Looking forward to being "home" ! :)

fishies!

The gamer and I took a little trip up to Baltimore to visit the National Aquarium the other day! The last time I was in this city was ten years ago! I can't believe how long ago it was and I was so excited for the gamer to visit for his first time!
On the way there we saw a green bean truck right next to us on the highway! I had never, ever, seen green beans being transported like this! It was such an awesome sight!

Look at all those green beans!!!
Driving into the city....
The National Aquarium and the Inner Harbor skyline...
I took a ton of photos, of course, but here are just a few of what we saw inside!

This turtle was rescued after one of his flipper-feet died because of an infection. He was so cute!
Nemo!
This a cowfish, and he was very photogenic. He would move back and forth in front of the glass and stop for a moment in front of each person's camera! It made us all crack up!
Alligator!
The gamer and me in the rainforest portion of the museum...
The dolphin show was amazing!! The gamer got some really awesome photos of the dolphins in the air as they were doing their tricks...
See the dolphin right there, horizontal in the air???

Later we took a walk around the Inner Harbor...
And last but not least I got to go see Camden Yards!

When I was in the eighth grade we took a tour of this baseball field, and I got a baseball card from one of the current (at the time) baseball players. At that moment I pronounced the Orioles as my favorite baseball team (even though I really don't care about the sport, at all, or even watch it)...but baseball is HUGE in my family and my Dad is a die-hard baseball fan, so I felt I had to pick a team on my own accord (and not just have the Yankees or Mets as my fave, as is the custom of the rest of my extended family members!) So it was neat to see the field again!

Anyways, that sums up our Baltimore trip!

the gamer makeover

Big gamer news at the end of this post!

As you all might have noticed, the gamer unfortunately has been losing the hair off the top of his head for quite some time! It doesn't really bother him (or me!) but he's been thinking about buzzing it all off for awhile now to minimize the bald look.
That's my gamer!! See? On the back of his head he has beautiful blond hair, but unfortunately it just won't grown on the top! Anyways, he finally decided the other night was the night to take the plunge and let me buzz it all off!

Here's the final outcome!
Doesn't it look a million times better?
And there's the back:
He's been getting so many compliments lately and everyone loves the look on him! Now that it's all short all over it really does make the top of his head look so much better :)

And now for the gamer news!!

The gamer is playing WOW again!

He's been playing for a few weeks actually...I was quite surprised when he gave it all up a few months ago, out of the blue. I even said to him, "honey! how am I supposed to have a gamer's wife blog if you aren't gaming?" and he laughed because he hasn't stopped the gaming activities (Wii, Playstation, xbox) but just wasn't spending hours online, which is what first caused me to start this blog!

So while I traveled around NY and elsewhere last week, I am almost positive the gamer was back home in DE gaming away online!

july 4th, small-town style

This post was originally planned to go up almost two weeks ago, but due to some technical difficulties (ahem. blogger. picasa. grrr) I had to postpone it! Then, I just decided to enjoy my vacay more and stay away from the blog for awhile. Apologies!! I'm working on getting a whole ton of posts redone (meaning, reuploading all the photos - GRR!). Thanks for your patience :)

I've been a lot of places for the Fourth of July. I've even been out of the country on July 4th before, so it was pretty neat to get to enjoy the holiday this year - small town style!

We split the festivities into two days...Friday night we had a backyard family get-together, complete with a croquet game!

The gamer was a natural at the game (I mean, seriously, what game is he not?!) and won both the individual match and the team match!
Three generations of B2 men debating the game...

Aunt Diane had a lovely set up on the back porch!

A patriotic pie...

Traditional shot of the gamer and I, photographing ourselves in the dark night!
The next morning we woke early to go to the town parade!
I've been to lots of huge city parades, but never a small town parade. You know you are in farm country when a big portion of the parade is tractors!
Later that night we went over to Rehobeth beach to watch the fireworks! We were exhausted from the past two days activities so we rested a little bit:
The beach started to get packed early on...
Then, later on...Look how many people are on the beach! The viewing area on the beach spanned a few miles and every inch of the beach was covered with people - it was an amazing sight!
Another self-photo of the gamer and me! This time we are both sporting our patriotic colors!
The fireworks were set off right over the ocean...it was amazing! We all lied on our beach mats and just looked straight up in the air for a half hour watching the great fireworks display!
Probably one of the best displays I've ever seen and such a great way to see it!

happy birthday to me!

I am 24 today!

I have always looked forward to this age for some reason - here's to hoping it will be a good year! So far I'm 24 and homeless and jobless, so I'm assuming it will only get better from here! ;)

Just got back from vacation (still in DE though) so I've got a lot of blogging to catch up on! It's birthday week though (I really like to live it up!) so hopefully I'll be posting again sometime soon. As always thank you to all of you who visit regularly and to the few who comment - it means so much to me!!

sorry!!

Hi from NY!

I realize there has been some problem with my pre-dated posts going up for the week...my pictures aren't showing up right!!

I spent forever using my blogging service to get those pics uploaded and posts written and now I'm MAD! I had a few more posts already pre-dated for the rest of the week, but I've decided to postpone their posting until I get back home (DE) and back on my Mac to fix all the issues.

Sorry about that!!

Hopefully I'll have all my posts back up regularly starting next week when I get back!

Love,

more farm living

I just can't get enough of the farm life here in DE. The gamer's grandparents even live on farmland so I have lots of chances to take countless pictures of the corn...

We bought Grandaddy some of his favorite trees - crepe myrtles - for Father's day this year, so one day last week we all trekked over there to plant them. I'd never planted a tree before!

Here's the gamer and his gamer-bro practicing their farmer pose!

Grandaddy explained to us how to plant a tree (pretty simple) and the gamer set to digging...

But apparently he just wasn't doing it like Grandaddy wanted so he took it upon himself to finish the planting! Mind you, he's in his 80s but he sure put both of those boys to shame!

I also had to take in the beauty of the farmland right around us!

A peach tree!

I have never seen peaches up close on a tree before!

But this had to be the highlight of the farm for me.... ASPARAGUS growing!!!
Do you see those stalks?! Never in my life have I known how asparagus grows or even gave it a second thought! Isn't that cool?

And then the wheat fields!!
See that field? That land is gonna be mine someday! Well, to share with the other gamer-bros and their families. But it's going to make for an awesome shared vacation home and I am looking forward to the day (a long ways away in the future) but I will be sad to see the wheat go!
And the recapping wouldn't be complete without another corn close up!

cats and ice water

ETA: Something happened with the photos so they aren't showing up! I'm traveling right now so I don't have the pics to upload again...sorry about that!

These pictures don't really have a home, but I had to post them anyways :)

This is the gamer's cat: Little Bit!

She has been in the gamer's family for almost 12 years so she is a pretty old cat, but so pretty and soft! She used to sleep with the gamer every night when he lived at home, and he sure does miss her now that she's moved away to DE!

The gamer won't really allow us to get a pet right now because he's afraid I'd squeeze it to death! Little Bit absolutely does not want you to squeeze her! She doesn't mind being petted, but she likes her space. So when I got really close and faked a hug, the gamer snapped the following photo. It's an AWFUL picture of me but we just busted out laughing when we saw it!

While were are here in DE we've been to the beach several times. We like to go to Fenwick Island because it is a state park and relatively quiet compared to some of the other busy touristy beaches on the coast.

Unfortunately the water is a nice cold 67 degrees so it does not make for nice swimming conditions! As you can see both the gamer and our niece are cringing in the water!
I choose to sunbathe and stay as far away form the ice water as possible!
The waves here in DE are pretty awesome though!

A rather random post, but that's pretty typical gamer's wife style!

ocean city

I am so far behind (like always) with my posts about our adventures here on our jobless/homeless/vacation in Delaware!

Tomorrow I leave for a week-long trip up NORTH to my homeland as I like to call it. I'll be touring NJ, PA, CT and New York (my birthplace and favorite food place on earth!) so I won't be around to blog, but not to fear - I promise I'll pre-post a whole lot today so you'll be all caught up on what the gamer and I have been doing this last little while!

About two weeks ago we visited Ocean City, MD which was a favorite summer vacation spot of the gamer when he was a kid. They loved spending the day at the beach and going up to the boardwalk at night to ride all the rides!

Of course the gamer and our niece had to ride some carnival rides while we were there! I opted out, of course!

But I did make sure to partake in my favorite boardwalk activity - eating a vanilla cone!

Stay tuned tomorrow for some more updates! :)

corn, corn, corn!

The gamer took me up to Delaware to visit his grandparents for the first time about five years ago. The main things I remember from that trip were the long drive, the nasty chicken smell and the cornfields.

After living in a pretty congested city for the last three years it is definitely a welcome change to drive for miles and miles and pretty much only see farmland.
The first time we came up to visit the gamer's parents after they moved here I noticed that there was farmland practically in their backyard!

Now that it's summer, the corn is growing everywhere in Delaware! But when we go on our walks it is so crazy to just see cornfields growing in the backyard!
Did you know that most of the corn grown in Delaware actually goes into chicken feed, instead of selling it to people?!

Corn, close up!

My niece and I walking in the corn..

Walking in a cornfield. It doesn't get more all-American than that!

Happy Fourth of July! :)

bunny watch

Back home in NC we'd occasionally see a bunny in the yard....Ok, it was more like rarely, if ever. Maybe a few times a year.

But here in Delaware the bunnies are everywhere! And everyone knows how much the gamer's wife loooooves bunnies (ok, you probably didn't, but now you do!)

We like to walk around the neighborhood after dinner, and on one night alone we saw TEN BUNNIES!

They are seriously the cutest thing, ever.

And every bunny in the neighborhood has a white cottontail!

I love watching them run...

Don't these two look like they are posing?

Three together!! Afterward, they ran after each other in the yard before bouncing away!

More bunnies!

Sooooooo cute!!!

Can you believe this is just from one walk around the block?! And we seem them just hopping around all the time in the backyard.

Tax free shopping, cornfields as far as the eye can see, and bunnies! My top three favorite things about living in Delaware! :)

tea party time!

The gamer's mom thought it would be nice to have high tea at a really nice Victorian hotel on the boardwalk of Rehobeth Beach...so that's exactly what we did!

I'd never been to a tea party before! We all got dressed up to go, of course.
Me, my niece, and Grandma.

The view from the restaurant was so nice!

Aunt Diane with the tea treats!

And me with the tea treats!

Here's my plate:

Everyone got their own individual tea pot!

All the B2 ladies at tea!

In case you've come across my blog since I first explained the "B1" and "B2" thing, they are the nicknames I use for my mine and the gamer's last names.

At the tea party were FOUR generations of B2 ladies! Everyone at the table had the last name of B2! How awesome is that? The gamer's grandmother (1st generation), his mom and two aunts (2nd generation), me (3rd generation), and my niece (4th generation).

My niece showing off her Victorian hat!

B2 ladies on the boardwalk! :)

The whole day was so nice...definitely nothing I've ever done before!
